#119, Body Armor - Protecting Your ASSets

This is a longer show as I may be still celebrating my birthday next week (hint, hint) and the show #120 may be come out later than scheduled.

Happy Fathers Day and remembering Juneteenth.

My friend Ted Deeds from the Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA) explains about Body Armor.

I speak with the man CNN calls “The Armani of Bullet Proof Apparel” – Miguel Caballero. Here's a clip from Harrods of London about him.

Go Green. Learn To Reload. Episode #118

Green River- Kenn sings a 60’s classic originally from Creedence Clearwater Revival. Think I was near green river Tennessee and some of TN done rubbed off on your boy. I like music of all types so don’t typecast me. (smile)

Introducing “OurSafeHome.net” a new computer based training system for women to get familiar with firearm safety. It won’t replace traditional training but will help more people learn on their own faster.
Introducing Discreet Carry AR15/M16 Kit from Persimmon Ridge Enterprises, Inc. tac2@preinc.net

Smooth- Episode 117

Kenn sings Santana’s “Smooth”

Kenn takes a smooth trip to Tennessee, home of smooth drinking whiskey,  Andrew Jackson, Nashville, “Music City” and celebrates the birthday month of Prince, Sam B. Perkins in the month of June.

June was the perfect time to fly to Nashville to meet the famous, humble and expert photog, Oleg Volk.

Oleg invited me to an exclusive shooting opportunity where I got to meet his friends and make some of my own.

Law Enforcement, Military and security specialty store, Hero-Gears.com sponsored the event hosted on a lovely retreat called Round Cove somewhere out of cell phone range in the mountains of Tennessee.  It as a fantastic 2200 acres space overlooking unspoiled woodlands, caves and rocks with a view of Alabama.

The property was large enough to field the event and allow us to shoot fully automatic weapons, witness the company that makes American made RPG’s, shoot a mortar and a lot of high caliber rifles.  Big fun was had by all.

I meet several High Road.org personalities and watched the most high tech digital photographers have at it.

This was my first road trip and I have a better idea what I need to travel around the country to meet with listeners of the Urban Shooter Podcast and activist.  I need to pack better, carry less body lotion to make it through TSA and dress like I was going to bed to get through security.

I got the opportunity to shoot McCann Industries, .458 Winchester Magnum firing M-1 Garand converted rifle.  SWEET!  The recoil is controlled and it is one smooth operating rifle.  They took a war horse and made it a big game hunter.  They also make some impressive edged weapons.

I also shot Oleg’s Sig Sauer “FAL looking” rifle.  And saw a host of other nice ones personally owned.

Sported a new hat, but my new boots were hot and killing me.

I couldn’t do the two days out with my hotel room being two hours away.  I had to miss the helicopter ride, more eye candy and a chance to worship God in that place with some new Christians I met.  I made it back safely in my rental car to Nashville late that night and found the shower to be a blessing.

In the morning, I found a IHOP for breakfast in Andrew Jackson’s area of Hermitage.

Everything went smoothly.

Episode 116, New York State of Mind

Nobody knows the struggles of pro-rights New Yorkers except perhaps New Yorkers. Gun rights for the people of New York depend on who you know and where you live. I called NRA director John L. Cushman to share “What’s up with NY”.

On a technical note, I need a quieter chair or a less powerful microphone. I think every sound that could have been picked up was. I waited till it was late and the Mrs. Wasn’t washing clothes to record and made more noise than ever trying to multi-task while John talked. Sorry. All that sleep deprivation for nothing. Had a cold all weekend to boot and wasn’t feeling 100% but get such a joy out of creating, producing and podcasting that I had to. I figured out how to level the audio now so hopefully I stop hurting the ones I love with the too highs and too lows. Except now you can hear my dog passing gas in the studio and I have to adjust for that.

Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison Blues has nothing to do with New York but I love the song. I changed the lyrics a little as that is what blues guys do to make me laugh.

The bit about “The Perfect Gun” and “Where Should I Put It” come directly from listener feedback questions and suggestions for the next show.

Love the Facebook feedback and appreciate all those onboard there. http://twitter.com/kennblanchard respectfully.
